Dysgnathia
Dysgnathia refers to a misalignment of the jaws that can result in both functional and esthetic impairments. These misalignments can be congenital or develop during the course of growth. Those affected often suffer from problems with chewing, speaking or breathing, which may require treatment by a specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
Our treatments
Reconstruction after trauma
Injuries to the face, whether bony or soft tissue, are one of the most common accidents and happen in a wide variety of situations, whether during sport, traffic or at work.
Facial injuries can often be complex and lead to fractures that need to be treated by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. PD Dr. Dr. Safi has extensive expertise in this area and always operates on or reconstructs facial injuries from a functional and cosmetic perspective.
Our treatments
Jaw cysts
Jaw cysts are fluid-filled cavities in the jawbone or soft tissue that usually arise due to inflammatory processes or developmental disorders. They often grow unnoticed and are often only discovered on x-rays. However, larger cysts can cause pain, swelling or tooth displacement.
Treatment is usually carried out surgically by removing the cyst in order to avoid complications such as infection or bone damage. In some cases, an accompanying bone augmentation treatment may also be necessary. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to maintain the health of the jaw.
Our treatments
Abscesses
An abscess is a painful, purulent inflammation caused by a bacterial infection. In the mouth and jaw area, abscesses often occur as a result of untreated tooth decay, tooth root inflammation or periodontitis. Typical symptoms are swelling, redness, tenderness and, in some cases, fever.
Treatment usually involves opening and draining the abscess to allow the pus to drain away. Antibiotic therapy may also be necessary. Early dental or surgical treatment is important to avoid serious complications and to fight the infection effectively.
Our treatments
Tooth exposure
Tooth extraction is a surgical procedure that is performed when a tooth does not grow through the gums on its own. This often concerns displaced or impacted teeth, such as canines, which remain in the jawbone and do not break through properly.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and can be combined with orthodontic treatment to guide the affected tooth into the correct position. Tooth exposure enables natural integration into the row of teeth and contributes to the function and aesthetics of the dentition.

Implantology
Implantology is a specialized field of dentistry that deals with the replacement of missing teeth with artificial tooth roots. Dental implants are usually made of titanium or ceramic and are firmly anchored in the jawbone to provide stable support for crowns, bridges or dentures.
This procedure is particularly suitable for patients with tooth loss who are looking for a long-term and natural solution. Sufficient bone substance is crucial for the success of the implantation - if necessary, bone augmentation can be carried out beforehand. Implants offer an aesthetic and functional alternative to conventional dentures.

Bone augmentation
A bone augmentation treatment in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMF) is a surgical procedure that aims to restore or build up lost bone in the oral and facial region. This type of treatment is often necessary when patients have insufficient bone density due to tooth loss, injury, bone disease or other medical conditions, for example to support dental implants or to make aesthetic corrections.

Snoring splints
Snoring splints, also known as protrusion splints, are a proven method of treating snoring and mild to moderate sleep apnoea. They keep the lower jaw in a slightly forward position during sleep, which keeps the airways open and reduces vibrations in the throat.
The customized splints are comfortable to wear and offer a non-invasive alternative to other forms of treatment. They can significantly improve the quality of sleep and reduce the risk of health problems. Professional fitting by a dentist or orthodontist is crucial for the best possible effect.
Our treatments
Sleep apnea
Sleep apnoea is a sleep disorder in which breathing stops repeatedly during sleep. This leads to a reduced oxygen supply and can put a strain on the cardiovascular system. The causes are often narrowed airways, obesity or muscular relaxation in the throat area. Symptoms include loud snoring, daytime tiredness and difficulty concentrating. Treatment includes lifestyle changes, respiratory therapy devices (CPAP) and surgery. Early diagnosis can reduce health risks.

Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty, also known as nose correction, is a surgical procedure to change the shape or function of the nose. It is performed both for aesthetic reasons and to improve nasal breathing, for example in the case of a crooked nasal septum or functional limitations.
Depending on the individual findings, the correction is performed open or closed, under general or local anesthesia. The healing phase usually lasts a few weeks, with swelling and bruising subsiding after a short time. Careful planning and professional execution are crucial for a harmonious and natural result.
Our treatments
Palatal expansion
Palatal expansion, also known as SARPE treatment (Surgically Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion), is a surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion that is primarily used to treat malocclusions and narrow upper jaws. It is often used in adults or adolescents whose upper jaw growth is already complete, as conventional palatal expansion without surgical intervention is not sufficient for them.
Our treatments
Temporomandibular joint
Temporomandibular joint disorders, also known as craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD), are caused by malfunctions of the temporomandibular joint and masticatory muscles. They often manifest as pain, clicking or restrictions in jaw mobility. The causes can be teeth grinding, misalignment or muscular tension.
Depending on the cause, various measures are used for treatment, including bite splints, physiotherapeutic treatments or orthodontic corrections. The aim is to improve jaw function and alleviate discomfort in the long term.

Wisdom tooth extraction
Wisdom tooth extraction is a common dental surgical procedure that becomes necessary when wisdom teeth cause problems due to lack of space, misalignment or inflammation. It is particularly used when the teeth cause pain, swelling or displacement in the dentition.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia or, if desired, under sedation and is usually minimally invasive. After removal, a short healing phase with rest is required. Removing the wisdom teeth in good time can prevent long-term discomfort and complications.
